What Is Bench Unlocking?

Bench unlocking is the process of unlocking your vehicle’s Engine Control Unit (ECU) by physically connecting to it outside the car — typically removed and worked on a test bench. This method allows deeper access than OBD, enabling full unlocks for tuning, cloning, or feature modification.

How It Works

  2. 2Drop Off or Mail In – Bring your vehicle or ECU to the shop, or ship us the ECU. We’ll guide you through what to bring or how to pack it.
  3. 3We Unlock & Verify – Our techs unlock your ECU and perform post-unlock verification.
  4. 4Ready for Tuning – Your ECU is now fully accessible for tuning or integration.

ECU Bench Unlock for Post-June 2020 BMW & Toyota Supra

If you own a BMW or Toyota GR Supra manufactured after June 2020, you may have encountered limitations with traditional ECU tuning methods. These vehicles are equipped with Bosch MG1 or MD1 ECUs that are locked to prevent unauthorized access, making standard bench unlock procedures ineffective.

⚠️ Important Considerations

  • Dealer Updates: Be aware that dealer software updates can re-lock your ECU. If that happens, bring it back and we can unlock it again.
  • Mail-In Shipping: For mail-in orders, customers cover shipping to and from our shop. Call us before you ship so we can set up your order.
